Website and Recruiting and Retention

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, September 1, 2009, we will be discussing how we can best make use of the Internet to both add new members and to keep our membership better informed on club projects and progress.

This posting is the first to use the automatic e-mail notification feature, so many, but not all, of you will see this notice in your e-mail before you join us at Mayberry.

Please think about how we can tailor our internet use to support all or our programs.

  • Membership information and membership applications
  • On-line dues and membership fees
  • On-line meetings including shared chats and on-line presentations (webinar)
  • E-mail notifications of meetings, projects and task assignments
  • Use of community building systems such as FaceBook and Twitter.
  • Taking advantage of recommended club use from International

This is just a start. Your insight and input is crucial to our potential success in extending our club reach.

President-Elect announces RB&R Date

President-Elect Richard Moncrief announced the date for the Red Beans & Rice fundraiser for 2009:  It will be held on Saturday, May 2nd.  The Baton Rouge Early Risers Kiwanis Club has the opportunity once again to bring a great meal to hungry families, fund next year’s growing list of its traditional and new projects for kids and community, and “pass a great time” in the process.  Happy New Year!

Oh Happy Day: Kip!

Hey Early Risers!  Need a battery restart?  How about an engine overhaul?  Well, we’ve been looking forward to this for a good while.  Mr. Mayor-President Melvyn “Kip” Holden is coming home!  He’s sure to receive a warm welcome, in addition to the usual robust measure of Early Risers’ ribbing.  Maybe he would come back more often if we were a little gentler?  Nah, he moves in tougher circles all the time.  If we are too easy on him, he’ll worry something’s wrong.  Do come on out tomorrow, December 9th, to see that famous Holden smile and get a lot of great information on the state of the city!

Please note:  We’re meeting at Southern tomorrow for the last time before the Christmas break, and we do not return to Southern until January 20th.  All of the interim meetings will probably be with our friends at Bayou Cafe, but you’ll get updates as they develop.

RED BEANS & RICE, APRIL 5TH!

Red Beans & Rice

Our all-important annual fundraiser is coming right up. All members: Keep those ticket donations coming in, and pass the word that a great hot meal at a beautiful place for many worthy causes is available at an incredible price! While gasoline, medical insurance, and all sorts of other costs have continued to skyrocket, Early Risers have managed to hold the price of our tickets at $4.00 per person. As this may be the last year we can keep them so inexpensive, it’s really worth mentioning to all your potential “investors.” Have a great time telling everyone about Baton Rouge Early risers Kiwanis and all the good stuff their enjoyment of the best Red Beans & Rice in town will make possible next year.
